Great maps were a basis for historical legends and so is GeoDjango. Most online information are connected to locations (since real people are behind the PCs and they have to sit somewhere), therefore GeoDjango is a great part of Django. It helps you to locations and areas in the PostGis standard, supports multiple spatial systems and provides great geo-functions (like calculating the distances between points or the area of geo-polygon).
